The GVLR were fortunate to be offered 2 of the working locos, including this 20/28 HP Simplex, which is on long term loan to the GVLR. The loco arrived in early 2005 and was named "Tubby" (which was the nickname of Major JA Robbins, the Railway curator of the MAT, and responsible for building their demonstration field railway).

This loco arrived with airbrakes, which were adapted to the GVLR system. The loco is in full working order, and after an initial service it was pronounced "a good little runner" by the railway's CME Eddie Draper. The loco will be used on light passenger trains, but only by drivers who can hand start the engine!
