How do I get to the GVLR
The Narrow Gauge Railway is located on the main museum site at the Midland Railway - Butterley. It can be accessed via Butterley Station which is situated one mile north of Ripley, Derbyshire on the B6179. Please visit the Midland Railway - Butterley's web site for further detailed directions on bus, rail or train travel. The GVLR's Butterley Park station can also be accessed on foot from Ripley, Golden Valley and Leabrooks via public footpaths or at Newlands Inn station. There is NO PARKING in the vicinity of the access point from any of these.

When do trains run on the GVLR
Trains usually operate every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday from the beginning of April to late October, except the occasional Saturday when the Midland Railway - Butterley is closed. Trains also operate most days during the Easter, Whit and Summer school holidays. Please see the Timetable Page for more details.

At what times do the trains operate
Passenger services commence at 11:45 hours and thereafter run at 45 minute intervals until 16:15 hours. Trains depart Butterley Park Station, on the main Museum site, to Newlands Inn Station and return. For full details, please see the Timetable Page.

What is the cost of a return ticket
Adults £2-50 / Children £1-50 / Family £7-00 / Children under five years old - free. This is in addition to the Midland Railway - Butterley train fare.
