Built in 1934, this is one of the 40HP versions of the “Simplex” design, and is fitted with an extremely unusual “Breadbin” style cab, of which only one other example is known to survive.
It was originally supplied to Joseph Boam’s sand quarry at Middleton Towers, Norfolk on 17th February 1934 at a cost of £523 12s 00d (£523-60). Fitted with a Dorman 2 cylinder Diesel engine it too was originally preserved privately on the West Lancashire Light Railway.
